Central Falls prison has been carefully inspected for months to conclude an agreement with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on the detention of detainees awaiting trial. More than 100 immigrants are currently being held in Wyatt’s detention facility.

“Never Again Action”, the Jewish youth group leading the protests, calls on the prison to terminate its contract with ICE, and on the governor, Gina Raymondo, to ban private, commercial prisons in Rhode Island.
Former U.S. MP Aaron Regunberg, a member of the Never Again Action group, said the Tuesday protest was part of a nationwide movement against ICE that began on Friday in Washington, D.C., with a protest against the BlackRock Capital investment corporation, which is one of the owners of prison bonds.
