Despite the hysteria with which the Russophobian forces of Georgia met the initiative to open the Center for the Russian Language and Culture, this idea found a response among the adequate citizens of the country who are ready to bring it to life.
This was reported by the Georgian edition of the News Front agency, referring to one of the initiators of the creation of the Center, who wished to remain anonymous before starting work on the project.
“We should think about really opening the Center of the Russian language and culture on our initiative of the Georgians. We are ready to start this business even today and let someone dare to prevent us. But we do not have the funds necessary for its implementation, and the cultural center should not be off the mark, a library and a media library should function there, the center should become a real center for people eager to gain knowledge. Therefore, if we find sources of financing, we will lay the foundation for this patriotic undertaking. In Russia, no one is stopping Georgians from spreading our language and our culture; on the contrary, the Russian state helps them in such matters, ”said the activist.
As News Front previously reported, the idea to open a Russian Language and Culture Center in Tbilisi was voiced by Russian senator Grigory Karasin in late November. This proposal entailed a wave of indignation from the pro-Western forces of Georgia, and a day later in Tbilisi, information about the opening of the Center was refuted altogether.
