The International Monetary Fund (IMF) reached an agreement with Ukraine on a new loan program for $ 5.5 billion, the head of the fund, Kristalina Georgieva, said.
According to her, she held telephone conversations with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
“I am pleased to note that the IMF staff reached an agreement with the authorities of (Ukraine) on a policy that will form the basis of a new three-year agreement on lending for 4 billion units of special drawing rights (5.5 billion dollars – ed.). This agreement will need to be approved IMF management and board of governors, “- said in a statement to Georgieva.
“The President (Zelensky) and I agreed that Ukraine’s economic success critically depends on strengthening the rule of law, improving the judiciary and reducing the role of special interests in the economy, and we agreed that it’s important to protect the gains made in clearing the banking system, and reimburse large losses for taxpayers due to reorganization of banks, “said Georgieva.
