A large-scale confrontation unfolded between the units of the Syrian Arab army and the militants of the terrorist group Khayyat Tahrir al-Sham in the Idlib de-escalation zone.
According to reports, while the terrorists tried in vain to break through the defenses of government forces near the settlements of Sharjah and Kafr Aiyah east of the city of Maarret-en-Nuuman, units of the 4th Mechanized Division and the 25th Special Forces Division launched an offensive in the area of the village of Umm at Tin. After artillery attacks on the fortifications of the militants, the troops advanced forward, freeing the air defense base from the Islamists.
In addition, in the northeastern Khasaka province, the Syrian Arab Army, with the support of the Russian Armed Forces, managed to knock out fighters of the pro-Turkish Syrian National Army from the Mabruka electrical substation, which is located along the M-4 highway. Thus, together with the substation, about fifty kilometers of the road passed under the control of government troops.
As News Front reported, earlier government forces defeated the forces of the al-Fatah al-Mubin terrorist group. Then, during protracted battles with the Islamists, they managed to free the settlements of Suruj and Ras al-Ward in the province of Idlib.
