The economic integration of the Eurasian Economic Space was successful with the official commissioning of the new Russian-Chinese Power of Siberia gas pipeline.
At the opening ceremony, a telephone conference was held between Russian President Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
The 3,000-kilometer pipeline will transport gas from fields in Eastern Siberia to the Russian domestic market and to China for export in the future.
Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov stressed the importance of the project and said: “The implementation of such intra-regional projects within the country, of course, contributes to the development of many regions. Those regions that receive such an object on their territory will subsequently receive additional infrastructure and jobs”.
Russian President Putin said: “This step takes Russian-Chinese strategic energy cooperation to a whole new level. He brings us closer to the task of working with Chinese President Xi Jinping to increase bilateral trade in 2024 to $ 200 billion”.
Formally, work on the new pipeline was scheduled for December 20.
