Labor leader accuses Johnson of misrepresenting

Leader of the opposition Labor Party, Jeremy Corbin, has submitted a secret government report that, after Brexit, a customs border will appear between the bulk of the UK and Northern Ireland.

“Johnson said that under the terms of his deal, there would be no checks between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK, which would allow unhindered access to (goods). In private, the government says something completely different. It says that customs declarations and a security check will be introduced between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK, ”Corbin said.

Corbin added that the goods may be subject to additional tariffs, saying: “Boris’s deal will be terrible for businessmen and jobs across the UK, and a government report confirms this.”

According to Corbin, the report says that “the deal will be highly damaging to the economy of Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales,” and the consequences of it will be comparable to applying tariffs on 30% of the goods purchased in the region.

In particular, according to Corbin, the government predicts an increase in retail prices, and Northern Ireland in the government document called “back door for the delivery of goods to the British market without paying duties.”
