The Pentagon has denied rumors that the United States allegedly banned the Ukrainian military from using lethal weapons on the front lines.
US President Donald Trump initiates the allocation of another 250 million dollars to Ukraine for lethal weapons. This was reported by Defense News with reference to a senior Pentagon official.
According to the interlocutor, it is in particular about Javelin anti-tank missiles.
“We look forward to continuing the allocation of military assistance to Ukraine”, – said John Rood, Under Secretary of Defense for Politics.
This is strange, since such statements are made in February or March. At the same time, Rood denied rumors that the US allegedly forbade the Ukrainian military to use lethal weapons on the front lines, calling the information “inaccurate”, and arguing that America’s demands are aimed at protecting American technology and the impossibility of transferring it to third parties.
“From the point of view of their use in the field – there are no restrictions on this. But keep in mind that this is a defensive weapon to deter Russian aggression”, – Rood added.
The current tranche of $ 250 million has already been completed, with the exception of $ 8.5 million.
