New package of US anti-Russian sanctions announced – Russian cyber sector and “Kremlin agents” will be blacklisted

Despite the fact that the scandalous investigation of RussiaGate failed, without providing evidence of Russia’s “interference” in the 2016 US presidential election, Washington decided to exploit this topic for a new package of anti-Russian sanctions.

This is reported on Thursday, December 5, by the Reuters news agency.

According to reports, next week the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations will submit to the lawmakers a draft law on the next “tough” restrictive measures against Russia. The bill “On protecting America’s security from Kremlin aggression” at the beginning of this year was proposed by Democratic Senator Bob Menendez and Republican Senator Lindsey Graham. The latter called the proposed measures “hellish sanctions”.

As planned, they should touch on a number of Russian banks that allegedly “increase interference in foreign elections,” the cyber sector of Russia, and also “Kremlin agents” are private individuals who, in Washington’s opinion, “act in the interests of Putin”.

The bill, which the Senate committee will consider next Wednesday, will allow the President of the United States to impose sanctions on any individuals or legal entities that consciously interact with Russian representatives that promote “malicious activity in cyberspace”; are politicians who “directly or indirectly promote illegal and corrupt activities in the interests of President Putin”.

It is noteworthy that Russian enterprises supplying liquefied natural gas to Europe may fall under sanctions on “interference in elections”. In fact, they represent serious competition to the US, which makes them objectionable to the United States. Also, companies or individuals who facilitate the supply of Russian LNG investments in excess of a million dollars may fall under sanctions.
