Iran suppresses activities of foreign agents inciting protests in the country

Iranian authorities suppress the activities of foreign agents inciting protests in the country, said Iranian ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanai.

“Some destruction, pogroms occurred precisely with the organization that was carried out from abroad. And of course, in this part, of course, the government of the Republic of Iran with a very strong will suppresses these actions, identifies these agents and suppresses their activities”, – said Sana’i at a meeting with reporters.

In mid-November, protests were held in Iran over the decision of the authorities to raise gas prices and introduce quotas for it. Some were peaceful, and some grew into armed riots with property damage, arson of banks, as well as victims and injured both among their participants and law enforcement agencies.
President Hassan Rouhani said the riots were organized by the US and Israel, and their goal was to undermine Iran’s security.
