Hamburg The Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) introduced on Tuesday a new action plan to support private refugee relief organizations.
The action “United4Rescue – Save Together!” Provides for the participation of “civilian lifeboats” in rescue operations. They should “not stand still, but act humanitarianly and save lives when the state cannot cope with it”.
Among other things, the union calls for the observance of the “right to save the sea” and “the right to life” and “its realization on the borders of Europe”.
In addition, United4Rescue opposes the “criminalization of rescue at sea” and advocates for “fair asylum procedures for those fleeing Europe”.
