US Ambassador no longer hides that intervenes in Moldovan politics

The American embassy in Chisinau did everything possible to keep the pro-Western government of Maya Sandu in power, and the coalition between the Party of Socialists and the ACUM bloc preserved.

Such a statement was made by the US ambassador in Chisinau Derek Hogan on the air of the RTR Moldova television channel.

He noted that Washington was extremely disappointed with the outcome of the political crisis in Moldova, but hoped that the new Cabinet would be ready to work on reforms in the interests of the West.

“We did everything in our power to preserve the old coalition, since we believed in its great potential,” the diplomat emphasized.

According to him, in view of the change of government, he has already talked with the President of the Republic Igor Dodon, the Speaker of the Parliament and the leader of the PSRM Zinaida Grechany, as well as the Prime Minister Ion Kiku.

“We explained that the new government is facing a steep mountain, because they have a great responsibility, as well as great expectations,” continued Hogan. – We reported that for us the main priority is reforms in the field of justice. If this government agrees to continue the work of the previous one, we will be happy to help. ”

As News Front previously reported, the parliamentary coalition between PSRM and ACUM broke up after the leader of the pro-Western bloc, Maya Sandu, while still the prime minister, tried to bypass the legislative body to pass a “reform” allowing her to single-handedly nominate candidates for the post of prosecutor general. The decision was made under the responsibility of the government, because the parliament dismissed him, forming a crisis composition of the Cabinet.
