Blood shed in London: What is known about the terrorist attack in the heart of Britain

Two people were victims of the attack, which occurred in the heart of the British capital on the north bank of the Thames in the London Bridge area. This incident could entail an increase in the terrorist threat in the United Kingdom.

The incident occurred in the historic building of the London guild of fishmongers, where a man armed with a knife attacked citizens. Eyewitnesses called the police, and before her arrival they tried to neutralize the offender with their own hands. They even succeeded. When the police arrived at the crime scene, the terrorist was disarmed and detained, however, law enforcement officers opened fire. The reason for this was a suicide belt worn on a killer. As it turned out later, he turned out to be a fake.

“The terrorists again made London their target. I regret to report that, in addition to the suspect himself, who was shot dead by law enforcement officers, two of the victims of the attack died during the attack, ”said the head of the capital’s police department, Cressida Dick, at a briefing.

According to police, three more victims are in the hospital. At the same time, the London ambulance service informed that doctors hospitalized three people. This may mean that two victims of the attack died on the spot.

In parallel with what was happening at the London Bridge, there were reports of an explosion in a nearby market. However, the information was later refuted. Nevertheless, the incident was qualified as a terrorist attack in Scotland Yard, and on Saturday, November 30, during the meeting of the emergency committee of the government, the issue of increasing the level of the terrorist threat will be decided.

Later, law enforcement officers revealed the identity of the attacker. It turned out to be 28-year-old Usman Khan, who lived in Staffordshire. Khan has been known to intelligence agencies since 2012, when he was convicted of ties to Islamic terrorists.
