The administration of US President Donald Trump announced the desire of representatives of the Taliban radical group to conclude an agreement with Miron. This was reported by White House correspondent Anita Kumar, who accompanied Trump during his visit to Afghanistan with the journalist pool.
“The Talban wants to make a deal, and we are meeting with them, and we are saying that it should be a ceasefire. Now they really want a ceasefire. I believe that this will probably work,” the US president said after talks with the Taliban during a meeting with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.
Trump noted that earlier, in September of this year, the United States was close to concluding a peace agreement with the Taliban, but this did not happen due to the killing in Afghanistan of an American military from Puerto Rico.
Trump has confirmed his intention to reduce the number of US troops in Afghanistan to 8 thousand 600 people. There are currently less than 14,000 troops in the United States in Afghanistan.
