Azerbaijan declared readiness to purchase Russian weapons

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry on Friday announced the country’s readiness to purchase Russian weapons.


Earlier, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev told RIA Novosti that Baku is interested in new contracts for the supply of Russian weapons, the details will be agreed upon by the relevant departments. According to the head of state, already completed contracts for the supply of arms from Russia to Azerbaijan are estimated at five billion dollars
“Azerbaijan has established close military-political and military-technical cooperation with the CSTO countries. I especially want to note the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia, including in the military-technical sphere”, –  official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Leyla Abdullayeva told RIA Novosti.

According to her, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on October 30 at a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and November 26 with the head of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov discussed military cooperation between our countries in 2020. “If necessary, Azerbaijan can acquire new weapons from Russia,” she added.
