Tusk: “Trump is one of the most difficult challenges for the union

According to European Council President Donald Tusk, Trump’s leadership is a challenge for the EU system. This is due to the fact that he “prays” for its decay.

Trump welcomed Britain’s decision to leave the EU, calling Europe a trade “enemy” and questioning the value of NATO’s transantlantic defensive alliance.

“For the first time in history, there is an American president who openly opposes a united Europe. He supports Brexit and prays for the collapse of the Union”, – Tusk said in an interview with the German weekly newspaper Die Zeit.

According to Tusk, Trump is set to break up the EU and presents “perhaps the most difficult challenges for the union”.

Relations between Europe and the United States are not going through the best period in their long history, one of the most important factors of growing disagreement remains the situation with Iran and the US decision to withdraw from a nuclear deal with Iran and impose sanctions on anyone who tries to conduct trade relations with the Islamic Republic.
