It is a well-known fact that migrants often pose a threat to the society that accepts them, but there is something that is usually kept silent – criminal groups. As it turned out, migrants threaten not only the general population, but also organized crime.
More and more foreigners are suspected of having links to organized crime in Germany, authorities told the ARD public broadcaster. Newly arrived immigrants often act as rivals to established Arab-Lebanese clans.
When investigating crimes involving Arab families, the German Federal Criminal Police Agency noted an increase in the number of suspects with foreign passports.
“In about one third of the proceedings, the suspects also included immigrants – and this means that we need to carefully monitor this phenomenon”, – said Holger Münch, the head of the agency.
The German authorities are already struggling with the long-established so-called clans associated with the Arab world, especially with criminal families with Lebanese roots. According to Munich, the recently arrived Syrians and Iraqis have not yet created such organized structures.
However, Munich cautioned against repeating the mistakes made by German authorities in the 1970s when a large number of Lebanese migrants entered the country.
The consequences of this show that “such things should not be allowed to continue for years – I think this is the biggest lesson we need to learn from development over the past 30 years”.
In this regard, it is not surprising that the European authorities, in particular the German ones, are introducing more and more new rules regarding immigration, are trying in every possible way to limit the influx of new refugees and keep the situation under control.
