The US administration wants Ankara to abandon the use of the Russian Triumph S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, but does not agree to provide similar conditions for the purchase of American Patriot air defense systems.
This statement was made by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.
“Initially, the US showed a positive approach on this issue, but there are still no guarantees,” the official said, noting that Ankara was ready to consider the possibility of concluding a contract with Washington.
At the same time, he emphasized that Turkey did not undertake obligations to refuse to deploy Russian air defense systems. According to him, Ankara did not acquire the S-400 so that they would gather dust in warehouses, it needs air defense systems and will actively use them.
As News Front previously reported, the Turkish Armed Forces have already tested the performance of Russian systems on American fighters.
