At the very end of his program, when his quotes were already distributed on social networks, the presenter said that his words about the Russian Federation and the conflict were a joke.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson, on his program, announced Russia’s support for the conflict with Ukraine, but in the end he decided to add that it was a joke, writes Daily Beast.
Initially, the conversation between the host and guest of his program, former adviser to Hillary Clinton, Richard Goodstein, was the impeachment process of President Donald Trump. Carlson said support for impeachment fell sharply, to which Goodstein replied that about 70% of Washington Post respondents were convinced that the US president had done something wrong with the so-called Ukrainian scandal.
Carlson decided to quickly change the topic of conversation for the likely involvement of former vice president Joe Biden and his son Hunter in offenses in Ukraine. Then the presenter continued to insist that Trump did not exert pressure on Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and did not force him to open an investigation against his political rivals. He wondered, “why is this what we should care about”.
“Because people are dying at the forefront”, – Goodstein answered him, but was interrupted by the host.
“Why should I worry about what is happening in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine? I’m serious. Why can’t I root for Russia? What am I doing”, – the moderator said.
Then he continued to make fun of Goodstein for expressing concern over Russia, and only at the very end of his program, when his quotes were already posted on social networks, said that his words about the Russian Federation and the conflict were a joke.
“Before we leave, at the beginning of the show I noted that I was a fan of Russia in the confrontation between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. Of course, I was joking. I only root for America – mocking the obsession that many leftists have”, – the moderator summed up.
Recall, the court ordered former White House legal adviser Donald McGan to appear in Congress to testify about abuse of power by President Donald Trump.
