China to protest the USA over Hong Kong bill

Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang summoned US Ambassador to China Terry Bransted to protest and make a statement in connection with the adoption of the bill on the protection of human rights and democracy in Hong Kong in the US Senate and House of Representatives, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Deputies to the US House of Representatives last Wednesday passed a bill on “Protecting Human Rights and Democracy in Hong Kong”, the Senate approved it a day earlier, and now it will go for signature to President Donald Trump.

“Hong Kong’s affairs are exclusively an internal affair of China, and no foreign country has the right to intervene in them. The US through this bill openly intervenes in China’s internal affairs, ignores reality, gives black and white, condones and supports violent crimes of forces creating an” anti-Chinese chaos, seriously violate international law and the basic principles of international relations, in connection with which China expresses strong discontent and strong protest”, – said Zheng Zeguang, and which are given on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Chinese side called on the United States to correct the erroneous actions and stop interfering in the internal affairs of China, including Hong Kong.
