South Korean defense ministry comments on DPRK artillery exercises

The Ministry of Defense of South Korea condemned the “artillery exercises” of the DPRK, calling it a violation of the inter-Korean military agreement.

Earlier it was reported that DPRK leader Kim Jong-un visited a military unit on the island of Channindo on the south-west coast of the country on Monday and personally checked the combat readiness of the artillery company, indicating the purpose and ordering to open fire.

“The coastal artillery exercises reported by the North Korean side violate the agreement reached in September last year, which has been carefully executed all this time. We urge the DPRK to comply with the military agreement of September 19 (2018), no longer repeating such actions, and immediately stop all military activity in the border areas, increasing tension”,  – said the representative of the Ministry of Defense at a briefing.
