In the future, in the event of a war, Russia and China will be able to use their technologies to launch accurate and destructive attacks on US military bases and logistics systems even in the United States, Foreign Policy writes.
It is noted that progress in aerospace, robotics, machine learning, 3D printing and nanomaterials allows you to create new classes of missiles and deadly drones (UAVs), which are stealth, long range and the ability to defuse concentrated enemy troops.
In particular, writes FP, UAV production is much cheaper using 3D printing, and nanomaterials make it possible to equip them with warheads twice as powerful as conventional ones. At the same time, the publication emphasizes, drones can already fly over transoceanic distances.
The spread of these technologies will lead to the obsolescence of the modern American way of warfare, the United States is simply not ready to quickly respond to an attack from Russia or China, in the future these two states will be able to use an infinite number of missiles and drones to wreak havoc on the territory of the United States and destroyed infrastructure, warehouses, ammunition and military equipment at American bases.
It is explained that most US military facilities lack missile defense or sheltered shelters. Aviation and warships often stand in the open air next to each other. Communication between the command and the soldiers is carried out to a greater extent by satellites, which are also vulnerable.
To overcome this situation, the publication suggests deploying launchers and combat drones in the allied countries near the Russian and Chinese borders – in the Baltic states and in the South China Sea. However, according to the magazine, the American defense industry is not interested in this: the Navy wants more ships, not missiles, and the Air Force wants manned vehicles instead of UAVs.
