The President of Serbia confirmed his visit to Russia on December 4 after meeting with Russian Ambassador Alexander Botan-Harchenko on Thursday.
The meeting was held amid reports of a possible espionage scandal. The country’s defense minister, Alexander Vulin, said on the eve that the Serbian authorities will study and verify media publications about an alleged attempt to recruit a Serbian officer by the Russian military. President Vučić on Thursday held a meeting with the Russian ambassador behind closed doors and scheduled a meeting of the National Security Council for the evening.
“One of the topics of the meeting was the preparation of a working visit of President Vucic to the Russian Federation on December 4 and his conversation with President Putin. This will be the 17th meeting of two state leaders, the third this year”, – the Vucic administration said.
It is noted that “the president will notify the public about everything else during the day”.
