Russia noted the continued issue of the illegitimacy of the Bolivian authorities

Russia notes the continued issue of the illegitimacy of the current authorities in Bolivia, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

She noted that the position of the Russian Federation regarding the latest events in Bolivia was clearly stated by both the President of Russia and the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The assessments expressed remain unconditionally relevant. We have repeatedly reaffirmed what I am doing now. Unfortunately, the country’s foreign policy continues to be tense, the destabilizing potential remains amid the unresolved problem of the legitimacy of the new leadership that came to power as a result of actions with significant elements of the state And now we are talking not only about the collision of supporters and opponents (ex-president Evo) Morales, but also the possibility of confrontation ethnic, social grounds and so on”, – Zakharova said at a briefing on Thursday.

Morales won the presidential election on October 20 with a minimum margin, but the opposition announced massive violations. At first, Morales announced new elections, but then, under pressure from the military, he resigned and left the country. Following him, the entire top leadership of the country resigned, power passed to the opposition vice-speaker of the Senate, Janine Agnes. Proponents of Morales dispute the transfer of authority to Agnes and demand her resignation. According to official information, since October 20 in Bolivia 23 people were killed in protests, 715 were injured, 624 were arrested.
