Palestine is hoping for a visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin in the near future, possibly in January 2020, said Palestinian Minister of National Economy Khaled al-Osayli.
When asked whether Putin or Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is expected to visit Palestine, al-Osayli said he “thinks that not only the foreign minister, but the president will visit Palestine in the near future.”
“I don’t know for sure (when Putin will pay a visit to Palestine), but I know that, possibly, in January,” the minister said.
Putin previously confirmed plans to visit Israel in mid-January, and also announced his intention, together with the Russian Orthodox Church and local churches, to continue to protect the interests of Christians in the Middle East.
