Malaysia expresses interest in joint arms development with Russia

Malaysia is interested in joint arms development with the Russian Federation and the construction of an aerospace center in the country, said Malaysian Foreign Minister Sayfuddin Abdullah.

“In the past, Malaysia purchased military equipment from the Russian Federation, but I think that when it comes to the military sphere, we are looking at opportunities to improve the quality of cooperation. It could be not only about purchases, but also about joint exchanges in the field of research and development.” – he said after negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“We also received a proposal to establish an aerospace institute in Malaysia. And we are seriously considering this possibility”, –  added the Malaysian Foreign Minister. According to him, if this happened, the relations between the two countries would be taken to a new level.
