The Iranian Foreign Ministry, in connection with the US statement on Israeli settlement activities, has accused Washington of helping to “occupy” the Palestinian territories.
“A statement by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo… once again confirms US complicity in the occupation of the Palestinian territories and shows the crimes of this regime in Palestine”, – said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi.
He also condemned the United States in connection with recent statements, advising Pompeo to abandon “the thinking of the eighteenth century, in which the powers that be considered themselves above international law and standards”.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman also called on the world community to oppose US policy towards Israeli settlement activities, calling the Pompeo statement an open violation of international law.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the United States rejects the statements of the previous administration of President Barack Obama, according to which Israeli settlement activity in the West Bank and East Jerusalem is a violation of international law. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that Russia is concerned about the US position on Israeli settlement activities.
