NATO needs to adapt to modern challenges, develop conceptually and politically in order to remain the guarantor of European security, the press service of the German Foreign Ministry quoted the head of the department, Heiko Maas.
“For 70 years, NATO has been a guarantee of European life. For this to continue, we must adapt our alliance to current challenges and accept greater European responsibility in security policy”, – Mass said before leaving for Brussels to meet with NATO foreign ministers.
“We must continue to develop NATO conceptually and politically”, – the minister emphasized.
He noted the significance of the talks in Brussels amid the trials that the alliance has recently faced. The topics of discussion of the ministers will be “the future of arms control, relations with Russia and security in space”.
