Lt. Col. Alexander Windman, the assistant to the National Security Council, described the nature of the attacks on witnesses who testified at the impeachment hearing to be “vile”.
“I want to take a moment to acknowledge the courage of my colleagues who have appeared and should appear before this Committee. I want to state that attacks on these distinguished and honorable civil servants are reprehensible. Naturally, disagreeing and engaging in lively debate has been our custom since our founding fathers, but we are better”, – he said.
Windman believes President Trump’s appeal for the Ukrainian leader on July 25 was “inappropriate”.
He said he was listening to the conversation in the Situation Room with colleagues from the White House.
“I was worried about the call, what I heard was inappropriate, and I reported my concerns to Mr. Eisenberg”, – Windman said.
The decorated soldier continued to explain why he believed the call was incorrect.
“The President of the United States has no right to demand from the foreign government an investigation into the case of the US citizen and his political opponent. It was also clear that if Ukraine continues to investigate the 2016 elections, Biden and Burism, this will be interpreted as a partisan game. This will undoubtedly lead to that Ukraine will lose bipartisan support, undermine the US national security and advance Russia’s strategic goals in the region”, – Windman said.
