It has become obvious to everyone in Georgia that the purpose of protests in Tbilisi organized by opposition forces is to carry out a coup. On Monday, this statement was made by Deputy Chairman of the Georgian Parliament Georgy Volsky.
He drew attention to the fact that lawmakers need to work on adopting a budget for the next year, which is not possible, since radicals have barricaded the approaches to the Parliament building.
“This is treason, a step back, because there are protests. Does anyone really notice that this scenario is revolutionary? Naturally, everyone sees this”, – the politician said.
As News Front previously reported, the pro-Western opposition of Georgia launched another protest after the ruling party failed to vote on the reform of the electoral system. Since the end of last week, unrest has not stopped in Tbilisi. Protesters pitched tents near the Parliament building and blocked the entrance to the legislative building. They agree to open access only when they achieve the overthrow of the current government, and the deputies agree to discuss the dissolution of parliament and early elections. The US Embassy has already come out on the side of the opposition.
