US and South Korea postpone military exercises due to DPRK

The United States and South Korea have postponed a joint military exercise scheduled for November, according to Reuters.

According to US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, Washington and Seoul agreed to postpone the air force exercises to support the DPRK’s desire for a peaceful settlement of the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

“I do not see this as a concession. I see this as a conscientious attempt … to ensure peace, ”the Pentagon head emphasized.

In addition, Esper urged Pyongyang to return to the negotiating table without prior agreement.

“We urge the DPRK to demonstrate the same goodwill as a balanced decision to conduct training, maneuvers and tests,” he said.
