In an attempt to create an absolutely gender-neutral society, the UK government is introducing another resonant practice.
According to “The Independent”, the country’s authorities plan to create a uniform and mandatory standard for school uniforms for all educational institutions in the kingdom in order to create a gender-neutral dress code for children.
The authors of the idea explained their actions by the fact that the current rules are supposedly outdated. At the same time, the essence of the new rules is that there will be practically no rules. Thus, the administration of educational institutions will lose the right to prohibit students from wearing clothing appropriate for the gender of the child. That is, regardless of gender, he will be able to wear pants, shorts, a skirt or dress.
“This will allow each student to independently choose what he wants to wear. To tell him what can be worn and what cannot be worn according to the gender of the child is an outdated practice. It only does harm”, – commented Liberal Party spokeswoman on education issues Leila Moran.
At the same time, she emphasized that children will be able to wear their usual clothes even after the introduction of new rules. According to her, the standards are more designed for future generations.
It is worth noting that this kind of ideas in the UK does not arise for the first time. For example, in a private school in London, back in 2017, boys were allowed to wear skirts to equalize their rights with those of girls. At the same time, in dozens of schools in the kingdom, skirts, as a symbol of gender inequality, were generally prohibited.
