Former Bolivian President Evo Morales said he would return home if the resignation request was not approved by parliament.
That is what he said in an interview with Universal.
The President of Bolivia announced his resignation on November 10 after a corresponding appeal from the army leadership.
“My resignation is in the (legislative) assembly, if the assembly does not accept it, I’m coming back. Now I feel that I can pacify Bolivia”, – Morales said.
According to him, peace in Bolivia can be achieved through dialogue, including participation of the UN, the Catholic Church and intermediary countries.
The political crisis in Bolivia began after summing up the election of the head of state on October 20. Evo Morales won, he served as president for more than 14 years. His main rival, opposition candidate Carlos Mesa, did not recognize the vote.
Amid mass protests, Morales announced new elections, but this did not stabilize the situation.
As the political crisis grew, along with the head of state, the entire country’s top leadership also resigned and received political asylum in Mexico.
The authorities in Bolivia were temporarily taken over by the second vice-speaker of the Senate, Janine Agnes, representing the opposition. The Constitutional Court confirmed the legality of the transfer of authority to her.
