If the current Georgian leadership acts carefully, without provoking the opposition with harsh statements, then the protest, no matter how formidable it may seem now, will come to naught
This statement was made by political analyst Petre Mamradze in a comment to the Sputnik news agency.
He recalled that such manifestations were already observed ten years ago, but they did not lead to anything.
“In 2009, during the rallies on Rustaveli Avenue, they even put cells and sat for months in protest, without achieving anything. Now the same thing is happening, and if you show restraint, make accurate decisions and make the right statements, then there will not be a trace of protests”, – Mamradze explained.
According to him, the problem of the “Maidans” is the “toxicity” of their leaders.
“There, such leaders gathered that people would not speak out in their support”, – the expert added.
At the same time, he does not exclude that the radicals themselves can go on provocative acts of aggression, including the storming of the parliament building.
As News Front previously reported, on the eve of another scandal erupted in Georgia – the ruling Georgian Dream party split, failing to vote on the bill, which was supposed to ensure the holding of parliamentary elections in 2020 only according to a proportional system. This was one of the demands of the pro-Western opposition in anti-Russian actions that broke out last summer. Yesterday, the protests resumed. The nationalists gathered at the parliament building, setting up a tent camp for protracted actions in the center of Tbilisi.
