Nearly 50 people injured in protests in Baghdad

At least 47 people were suffocated by tear gas suffocation in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Thursday morning, a local Al-Sumaria television channel reported citing a security source.

According to the source, law enforcement used tear gas in al-Hilani Square in central Baghdad.

Also, a source in the Iraqi Human Rights Commission told RIA Novosti that “two demonstrators died today (Thursday) In the morning near Tahrir Square (in Baghdad)”. At the same time, he added that the causes of their death have not yet been established.

Tahrir and al-Hilani squares are not far from each other.

The protesters during the protests since the beginning of October demand the resignation of the government, the fight against corruption, unemployment, and better living conditions. The Prime Minister of Iraq before the resumption of demonstrations announced plans to carry out rearrangements in the Cabinet and change the law on elections. However, he said that the resignation of the entire government would plunge the country into chaos. Earlier, the authorities made reshuffles in the leadership of provincial security agencies, where protests flared up.
