ISIS fighters largely capitulate in front of Afghan troops

After a series of counter-terrorist operations by government forces in eastern Afghanistan, dozens of militants from the Islamic State terrorist organization* laid their arms down and surrendered to the security forces.

This is reported by local information resources.

Operations unfolded in the province of Nangarhar, where in recent years the Islamists have been able to create a powerful infrastructure. However, as surrendered militants admitted, the onslaught of government troops was so strong that the leaders of the Islamic State ordered the jihadists to retreat to the neighboring province of Kunar.

In addition, detainees said that in the ranks of the Islamic state there are a lot of foreign fighters. Many come from neighboring Pakistan, there are also mercenaries from Arab countries, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Russia.

At the moment, there is no reliable information about how many jihadists managed to detain government forces. According to the command, we are talking about 45 militants, but the local administration reported 93 laid down arms.
