According to Ken Livingstone, the former mayor of London and the current president of the British political organization for solidarity with Venezuela Campaign, the growing hostility of the United States towards former Bolivian president Evo Morales is part of Washington’s efforts to improve intervention in Latin America.
“The Trump administration is stepping up intervention in Latin America, and this includes growing hostility towards Morales in Bolivia. We must say no to any United States intervention and support the work of Mexico and other countries to achieve peace, ”Livingston praised Washington’s reaction to events in Bolivia in a conversation with reporters.
When asked whether the vacuum of the current government in Bolivia could provoke more aggression against supporters of Morales, the president of the Campaign of Solidarity with Venezuela replied that progressive forces around the world should support all who were attacked in the country, including supporters of the former president.
On Monday, United States President Donald Trump welcomed the resignation of Morales and stated that it was “an important moment for democracy in the Western Hemisphere” and a signal for other “illegal regimes”.
Morales had previously arrived in Mexico for political asylum, but said he would return to Bolivia “with more strength and energy.”
