Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire held a meeting on Tuesday at which they reiterated their commitment to coordinating the two countries’ approaches to the international arena to fight terrorism, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
“The mutual focus of Moscow and Mogadishu on deepening the political dialogue and coordinating foreign policy approaches in the international arena, including in countering terrorism, has been confirmed”, – the ministry said in a statement.
In addition, the parties emphasized the need for continued joint efforts by the Government of Somalia and the international community to establish peace in the country, and support was expressed for the African Union Peacekeeping Mission in Somalia.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the second Paris Peace Forum.
