It was the countries of Central Europe that took the greatest blow following the imposition of sanctions against Russia.
Such a statement on Thursday, November 7, made the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Siarto in an interview with Japanese public television.
According to him, it is about “huge losses”. At the same time, he emphasized that Budapest is interested not only in cooperation with Western countries.
“The states that suffered huge losses due to anti-Russian sanctions are US, the Central European states”, – the diplomat said, emphasizing the desire of Hungary to establish an Eastern partnership. In this regard, he drew attention to China, which is “becoming the largest economy in the world”, and also has a “significant influence” on European countries.
Earlier, the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry criticized the key players in the European Union – France and Germany, where trade with Russia, despite the sanctions, grew by 41% and 20%, respectively. Hungary during this period lost about $8 billion.
Recall that the West introduced anti-Russian sanctions against Russia in 2014 after the return of Crimea to the Russian Federation. Among other things, restrictive measures also included trade bans, which has become a serious problem for many European entrepreneurs and entire countries.
As News Front previously reported, recently the lifting of anti-Russian sanctions has been increasingly discussed in the European Union. So, in the German parliament, representatives of four political forces at once called for a review of the failed “containment policy” with respect to the Russian Federation.
