Moldovan President Igor Dodon will hold talks with representatives of parliamentary factions of the Party of Socialists, Action and Solidarity Party Maya Sandu and Dignity and Truth by Andrei Nestase.
According to the head of the republic, neither he nor the socialists are interested in early elections, however, if the political crisis that cannot be resolved, a pro-Western government of Moldova will be declared a vote of no confidence.
“Socialists oppose the ACUM bloc’s initiatives contrary to the Constitution and inter-party agreements. The Party of Socialists and ACUM came to a clear procedure for nominating candidates for certain posts. We stand for judicial reforms, reforms of the prosecutor’s office, but it’s unacceptable to try to subjugate a person by political means”, – said Dodon.
He noted that tomorrow at 10:00 local time [11:00 Moscow time] he will hold talks with representatives of the PRSM. At the same time, he intends to speak separately with representatives of the ACUM bloc – deputies from the Action and Solidarity and Dignity and Truth party – at 11:00 and 12:00, respectively.
“As I know, in parliament these are two different factions”, – the head of the republic said.
The objective of these consultations is to put the parties at the negotiating table. So, by 15:00 the Moldovan authorities will already have a decision. At the same time, he emphasized that the probability of a vote of no confidence in the government is extremely high.
As News Front previously reported, the political crisis in Moldova arose against the background of the decision of the head of the pro-Western government, Maya Sandu, to single-handedly select candidates for the post of prosecutor general. The President, Prime Minister and Speaker of the Parliament of Moldova have already held negotiations on this issue. Igor Dodon insists on abandoning the dubious initiative and dismissing Justice Minister Olesya Stamate, who sabotaged the approval of the results of the competition for the post of Prosecutor General and now advocates for the collapse of the coalition. Sandu, in turn, declares that she is ready for early parliamentary elections if the government declares a vote of no confidence, but she does not intend to abandon her idea.
