US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said US President Donald Trump recognized the threat posed by the Chinese Communist Party and listed a number of “threats” from China.
In late October, Pompeo criticized China’s political system, saying that the Chinese people do not want this model.
According to the Secretary of State, the United States has come to realize how much the CCP is hostile to them and their values. He accused the Chinese authorities of using coercion as the preferred tool in governing the state, in giving bribes in transactions with neighbors and other countries, and in violation of basic human rights, including in Hong Kong. At the same time, according to Pompeo, the United States is ready to work with China.
“We need to make sure that the world understands the risks associated with the CCP and the consequences that we, frankly, have been taking over for a long time. The good news is that President Trump has recognized this threat”, – Pompeo said in an interview with Fox Business Channel.
The Secretary of State also noted that the parties should cooperate where possible. In particular, he expressed the view that the upcoming trade agreement between China and the United States “makes sense” for both countries.
“What is happening in Xinjiang, the forcible transfer of technology, cyberattacks or their activities in the South China Sea, which threatens all the countries of Asia, are serious risks. President Trump takes them seriously. We need to see us in this matter the world has joined”, – said the Secretary of State.
