Most Americans support Trump’s impeachment. Where it leads?

More than half of U.S. residents support Trump’s impeachment, according to a survey commissioned by the American media.

Political analyst Yuri Svetov commented on the situation on Sputnik radio.

More than half of U.S. residents support the start of impeachment proceedings for President Donald Trump, a poll conducted by order of The Wall Street Journal and NBC television showed.

According to the survey, 55 percent of respondents agree with the initiative of the Democratic Party. Of these, 24 percent of respondents believe that there are sufficient grounds for the procedure.

The idea of impeachment was opposed by a third of respondents. It is noted that the approval rating of Trump’s work is 43 percent and remains unchanged.

Political analyst, journalist Yuri Svetov on Sputnik radio assessed the situation.

“Who publishes this information? Fierce opponents of trump… He has no prospects (impeachment). Democrats can get their way in the lower house, but Republicans have a majority in the Senate. I think we’ll be watching this show for a year. Democrats have a belief that they are so lowering Trump’s chances of winning, but Trump has other cards to play. If he now enters into an agreement with China – even if the talk of this began to grow the stock exchange – he will provide progress in the economy, and this is a key issue of the American elections. As soon as the economy starts to grow, the person under whom it happens wins the election”, –  Yuri Svetov said.

Earlier, representatives of the Democratic Party in the US Congress began the process of impeachment. They accused Donald Trump of putting pressure on Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, seeking for his own political ends an investigation against former vice president Joe Biden and his son, who served as a member of a Ukrainian energy company.
In this regard, Trump allowed to publish a transcript of the conversation, from which it follows that he really asked Zelensky to “study” the Biden case. At the same time, the US president said that he had not done anything illegal and was fulfilling his duty to fight corruption.
