In the first week of humanitarian demining, Russian sappers found 37 explosive ordnance and ammunition in the vicinity of the city of Phon Sawang, Sienghuang Province, Laos.
“Russian military engineers of the International Armed Forces Center of the Russian Armed Forces during the first week of the humanitarian demining program in the vicinity of the city of Phonsavan, Sienghuang Province, discovered 37 explosive objects and artillery ammunition, clearing 0.25 hectares of the area”, – the Russian Ministry of Defense reports.
The ministry said that there is “a high concentration of unexploded ordnance” in the mine clearance area.
On October 22, it was reported that Russian sappers arrived in Laos to mine the area in which the Valley of Pitchers, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located.
For the first day of work, six explosive objects were found.
