A delegation from Syria, led by the governor of the province of Tartus, arrived in Crimea

The Syrian delegation, led by the governor of the province of Tartus Safuan Abu Saad, arrived in Crimea to negotiate with the leadership of Sevastopol and the city’s businessmen.

This is stated by State Duma deputy from Sevastopol Dmitry Belik to RIA Novosti.

“The Syrian delegation, led by Tartus Governor Safuan Abu Saad, arrived on the peninsula. The visit will take place as part of the work that my colleague, State Duma deputy Dmitry Sablin, began. Historically, an agreement on trade and economic cooperation took place between Tartus and Sevastopol, at which I happened to be present. The agreement is based on the development of the Sevastopol-Tartus sea route, through transshipment through our port of what Syria needs: grain and building materials”, –  said Dmitry Belik.

During a visit to Sevastopol on Monday, a meeting will be held between the governor of the province of Tartus and interim governor of the city Mikhail Razvozhaev and members of the government of Sevastopol. A meeting of the Syrian delegation with businessmen of the region is also planned.

In January 2019, the government of Sevastopol and the administration of the Syrian province of Tartus signed a cooperation agreement, under which the parties plan to develop projects in the trade, economic, scientific, technical, cultural, humanitarian and social fields.
