US actions related to imposing sanctions on Iran lead to the development of terrorism: Iran’s first vice president

US actions related to the imposition of economic sanctions against Iran and calls for other countries to support them lead to the development of terrorism, said Iranian First Vice President Eskhak Jahangiri.

“The United States is trying to introduce and strengthen economic sanctions against Iran, and is also calling on other countries to counteract Iran through such sanctions. Such sanctions against Iran are pushing for the development of international terrorism,” Jahangiri said, speaking at an expanded meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the SCO countries in Tashkent.

He noted that this position is contrary to the UN Charter and called on countries to “act responsibly” in this matter.

In addition, he drew attention to the situation when some organizations in some countries were recognized as terrorist, and in other countries they are not.

“Unfortunately, there is still such a thing as double standards. When an organization is recognized as a terrorist organization in one country but not in another. I think that it is necessary to conduct closer negotiations with other countries of the world in order to we could get approval from the UN Security Council and also accept cases under resolution 1223,” said Jahangeri.

He said: “Iran’s geopolitical position is an important element for creating a number of different alliances that could effectively and jointly counteract terrorist organizations.”
