The United States recognized that the construction of Nord Stream-2 has crossed the point of no return

Washington should have understood that Denmark would not be able to block the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline for a long time. Now, the American administration has practically no chance to hinder the completion of the project.

This is the commentator of the American agency “Bloomberg” Leonid Bershidsky.

He recalled that Nord Stream-2 is a threat to the supply of European liquefied natural gas to Europe. In this regard, US President Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened European companies with sanctions for participating in the Russian project. Nevertheless, no decisive action was taken, and last month Gazprom announced that construction was completed by 83%.

Until now, the problem for Moscow was the position of Copenhagen, but there, as the observer notes, they could not “endlessly hold this front while the United States shows indecision.” Not in the best way the American interests were reflected in the situation with Trump’s plans to buy Greenland.

Thus, Washington has a little more than a month left to initiate at least some restrictive measures against the project participants. True, according to Bershidsky, this will not be able to stop construction. So, the Swiss company Allseas Group, which is laying the pipe, is cooperating with Gazprom. However, in extreme cases, Russia may well use its own ship, the Academician Chersky, for this.
