Against the background of the struggle for the post of general mayor of Chisinau, the ruling coalition of the Party of Socialists and the ACUM bloc is witnessing an increasingly serious crisis.
So, the head of the pro-Western political formation and the Prime Minister of the Republic, Maya Sandu, suddenly teamed up with the former general mayor of the Moldavian capital, Dorin Chirtoaca, who left his post with a corruption scandal due to paid parking in the capital.
The politicians in a joint appeal openly called not to vote in the elections for the socialist Ion Cheban, who, following the results of the first round, became the leader of the race, seriously ahead of the representative of the ACUM bloc Andrei Nastase.
Moldovan President Igor Dodon commented on the situation, noting that the “new partner” Maya Sandu raises many questions.
“Madam, the Prime Minister and the leaders of the ACUM bloc should decide on the allies, and if she considers such people to destroy the city, let them clearly tell us, the Party of Socialists, the president’s team, which supported her government, expressed him a vote of confidence. Today’s step makes us understand that some of us have acquired other partners, and we will take this into account next week, ”said Dodon.
