US imposes sanctions on Iran’s construction sector

Washington extended nuclear restrictions.

The United States has imposed sanctions on the Iranian construction sector, as well as imposing a number of restrictions on the supply to Tehran of certain materials that can be used in nuclear and missile programs. This is stated in a written statement circulated on Thursday by the head of the State Department’s press service, Morgan Ortagus.

“Secretary of State Pompeo introduces new sanctions against Iran and extends nuclear restrictions”, –  the US Foreign Office said.

“This decision will help maintain oversight of Iran’s civilian nuclear program, reduce the risks of proliferation [of weapons of mass destruction], limit Iran’s ability to reduce its “breakout time” to nuclear weapons (the time it takes to produce enough weapons-grade uranium to create a bomb) and prevent the regime from reconstructing objects for proliferation-sensitive targets”, – Ortagus emphasized.
