Despite the ban on wearing masks in Hong Kong, protesters took to the streets in carnival costumes and forbidden masks on the night of October 31 to November 1, thus celebrating Halloween. Thus, the demonstrators tried to emphasize the fact that the government’s prohibitions do not bother them and the demonstrations will continue.

In the third quarter, Hong Kong’s economy officially fell into recession after nearly five months of protests and an ongoing trade war between the United States and China.
Over the past three months, the economy has fallen by 3.2 percent, Hong Kong government officials said Thursday. These were the worst economic indicators for the city since the global financial crisis a decade ago and the strongest signal about the damage caused by political unrest.
“The impact on Hong Kong’s economy is multifaceted,” City Finance Secretary Paul Chang wrote on his blog.
