European Union ruled out possibility of new negotiations on Brexit conditions

The European Union excludes the possibility of new negotiations on the conditions for the separation of the United Kingdom, said EC spokeswoman Mina Andreeva.

Earlier, the EU decided to postpone Brexit until January 31 from October 31, because the agreement on the terms of divorce with the UK, which was adjusted until it was fully ratified in the country. Without ratification, this document cannot enter into force, and the country’s withdrawal from the union without an agreement threatens very unpleasant economic events both for the country itself and for continental Europe.

“In this decision (on postponement), The EU, in agreement with the UK, clearly stated that any opening of the separation agreement was excluded”, – Andreeva said.

Moreover, the EU, after a year ago reached an agreement with Britain on the terms of their “divorce,” also ruled out the possibility of resuming negotiations on this. However, this agreement was rejected three times by the Parliament of the United Kingdom, and negotiators from the country and the union returned to discuss individual terms of the agreement and amend it. Now it is the updated deal that is waiting for ratification in the country’s parliament.
