NATO welcomes the efforts of the parties to deploy forces in the Donbass, said Secretary General of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg on Wednesday.
The process of separation of forces between the Ukrainian security forces and militias in the Zolotoy district began on Tuesday afternoon. Kiev stated that it would take 3 days.
“We welcome all efforts aimed at a peaceful resolution of the conflict, at the separation of forces. We are striving for a peaceful, diplomatic solution to this conflict in eastern Ukraine”, – Stoltenberg said during a briefing, commenting on the separation of forces in the Zolotoy district.
He said that NATO sees the progress that was made earlier in the village of Lugansk, hopes that such an example will be followed in the future. The Secretary General noted that the parties still have a lot to do, because the ceasefire in the Donbass is being violated.
“We welcome the new initiatives, the new dynamics that the president (of Ukraine, Vladimir) Zelensky began, aimed at a peaceful resolution of the conflict, and we support these efforts”, – Stoltenberg added.
